Heading Towards Eternity

Heading Towards Eternity is inspired by the song, The Pearl, by Emmylou Harris. I can listen to the song over and over without tiring of it, and I do just that. It lifts and inspires me on a deeply intuitive level. It soars and I soar with it. The lyrics were echoing in my mind as I worked on this piece. My mother had passed away a few months before, and I was thinking of her and of the journey we all ultimately take. I wanted to depict it boldly and energetically, as a joyful movement towards complete release and true freedom.

Original art by artist Wanda Oliver executed in oil paint and cold wax medium on cradled board, 20x24x1.5", July, 2025.  

Wanda is known for her embrace of bold color, energetic movement, and tactile surfaces filled with mesmerizing detail.

The surface of the painting is sealed with a layer of buffed cold wax. The sides of the cradled board are waxed, and the board is wired and ready to hang.  The board is designed to accommodate a floating frame, but no frame is necessary.
